About

In 2005 the Durham Strategic Energy Alliance, the DSEA, was officially launched to
help address the energy challenges facing Ontario and Canada by being an active
participant in the global quest for clean, affordable and sustainable energy solutions.
DSEA leverages and builds upon the existing strengths of Durham’s energy sector as it
builds on fostering Durham’s reputation as Ontario’s energy capital. Durham’s strength
in the energy sector is built on the infrastructure, the human capital, training capability
and expertise that naturally developed to support the nuclear plants that book-end
Durham Region in Clarington and Pickering and the many other energy sector partners.

Community

The DSEA is a non-profit organization comprised of business, government and
educational institutions working together for the advancement of energy initiatives.
Over the last 7 years the DSEA has worked to further develop the natural strategic
relationships between the academic community, the local government and private
sector that exist in Durham Region to create a positive contribution within the energy
sector.

Opportunity

The DSEA has become a recognizable participant in the energy sector in Ontario taking
a leadership role on commercialization and partnership development leading to new
energy projects and partnerships.

The DSEA has become a thought leader in the industry through our contribution to
energy and sustainability discussions and through an annual conference that attracts
international participants. Most recently, DSEA was a driving force in bringing a
Provincially funded Regional Innovation Centre to Durham Region and Northumberland
to further foster innovation within and outside the energy industry.
